Our established Blueprint for Early Literacy is based on National Reading Panel and Early Reading First recommendations. Sacred Heart Preschool has incorporated this highly effective literacy tool from the Children’s Literacy initiative into the classroom. In addition to language arts, it encompasses science, geography, math, social studies, movement, art and even social and emotional areas. The pre-kindergarten curriculum is designed to meet state and national standards for reading, writing and oral language development. Award-winning children’s books are used to introduce preschool children to the joy of reading.

This developmentally based and engaging program has earned nationwide interest and praise. It helps a child form proper handwriting skills. The program uses a multi-sensory approach through hands-on activities, songs, manipulatives and consistent language to teach fluency in letters and numbers. The goal of this program is to ensure correct and comfortable writing habits, while providing all the necessary fine motor foundational skills for writing. We find that this program helps ready our students for an easier and more successful kindergarten experience.
