Dance builds skills in nonverbal expressive communication and promotes the integration of mind, body and spirit. As students learn to express themselves through movement, they develop greater self-confidence and poise. Like other art forms, dance develops the imagination, builds reasoning skills, and hones a student’s intuition. It is also a great form of exercise and helps build muscle strength, flexibility, dexterity and increased coordination.
The dance program provides a ballet-based curriculum with additional emphasis in tap, modern and jazz techniques. Sacred Heart School for the Arts faculty create a nurturing, yet professional and concentrated environment where dancers from age 2 to adult are encouraged to explore their potential.
At Sacred Heart School for the Arts, all dance students (age 2 and up) have the opportunity to perform in a full-length, staged story ballet that is performed at the Ursuline Arts Center.
